On September 27, 1962, the book Silent Spring was published. Silent Spring was written by scientist Rachel Carson and shared Carson’s research related to interactions between humans and nature. Specifically, Carson addressed the negative effects of pesticides on the ecosystem. Although the majority of the book addressed ecosystem damage, part of the book described the probable poisoning of humans by pesticides. The book Silent Spring had a significant impact on agriculture and safety and it also changed our understanding of the natural world.
