Grover Cleveland was the first (and only) person to serve two non-consecutive terms as US President. He did not win a second term in 1888 by losing to Benjamin Harrison. He began his second term in 1893, which ended in 1897. Almost immediately, the Panic of 1893 began to define Clevand’s second term, and economic turmoil and civil concerns followed.
