Millard Fillmore served as US President from 1850 to 1853, having been called to serve after the untimely death of President Zachary Taylor. Although Fillmore was fondly viewed for having worked his way from poverty to US President, his hardworking disposition and best efforts did not stop the nation’s momentum toward the US Civil War.
