James Monroe rounded out the “Virginia Dynasty” when his two terms in the Office of US President ended in 1825. Like others before him, Monroe had experience as a soldier, diplomat, governor, and cabinet official, helping to designate his time as the “Era-of-Good-Feelings-President.” One of Monroe’s most significant achievements was adopting the “Monroe Doctrine” as a foreign policy stance.
