Franklin D. Roosevelt was first elected US President in 1933. He was the first person to be nominated for US President three times, and so far, he is the only person to have won four presidential ballots. Although FDR’s fourth term was cut short due to the natural death of FDR, during his first and second terms, he helped to guide the nation toward a prosperous 20th century. During his first term, he started the process that ended the Great Depression. His second and third terms were defined mainly by World War 2.
