James Anderson Jr. found himself in Vietnam in December 1966, just ten months after he joined. Sadly, Anderson was KIA while fulfilling duties as a part of Operation Prarie II in February 1967. On August 21, 1968, Anderson was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions during Operation Prarie II. In total, Anderson was awarded seven medals for his service during the Vietnam War, including the posthumous Congressional Medal of Honor.
